2007 Session A

Session A

Thursday:

We started the day with oatmeal/brown sugar, saugage links, hashbrown with choice of cereal and juice. Today is our last A schedule day and the counselors are preparing for a memorable one for the campers. We had an extra long general swim for girls and boys. After that campers were allowed to head to their cabins to get ready for the Special Dinner: Ronnie's Mexican Fiesta. The food was handed out by our volunteer waiters. Angela then called the entire camp up to a huge square dance where we danced out boots off. One more full day for this session! Remember that pick up is earlier than usual- 9:30 on Saturday.

Wednesday:
Campers are up and running after a very successful trip day. I heard that the cave was awesome, the water was cold but fun, the Chatuga rafters were all talk about their adventures and that the NOC bunch was perfect on the ride home! Excellent campers! We are on B schedule today. Campers are playing tennis, making bracelets, caring for bunnies, chicks and the guinea pig. It is nothing but fun and sun at Camp Chatuga today!
We are starting to head up for Talent Show and have had a full day of activities. All the kids look tried but happy and I will try to post pictures this evening. Only a few more days until this bunch is gone- wow how time flies when you are having fun!

Monday/Tuesday:
We had A activity schedule on Monday with a Sports Team Lunch. Counselor made a cheering tunnel as campers ran into before entering the dining hall. We had alot of red, orange and blue colors representing favorite sport teams. In the afternoon, there was C activity. Campers went trail riding, tubing, biking and enjoyed a good stretch at Yoga. Campers were surprised in the evening with a movie night up at the Lodge. We all spread out and watched the movie in the cool of the night. Camper will take their session trips today and will return to camp starting at 4pm. First year campers went down the river and are on their way to visit Stumphouse Tunnel. I will try to update the page as the pictures/campers come back into camp. Phone calls will be made throughout the day at varying times but will end at around 8:30 (campers call to quarters).

50s 60s Dance

Sunday:
We LOVE lazy Sunday. Campers and staff all had a chance to sleep in this morning and even got an extra canteen for lazy Sunday. Campers had a bit longer rest hour and then picked an activity of their choice for the afternoon. Ronnie grilled out hotdogs and hamburgers, made some beans and cut up some watermelon for dinner. Campers got to sit on the hill with their friends to eat and chat. For this evening, we are going to the council ring for a bonfire, signing, vespers, skits and the famous "Spirit Sticks!" award.

Saturday:
We woke up to a sunny morning, with the birds singing and the dogs howling to the reveille that was playing over the intercom. The campers went to their B activity schedule and are loving the sun. Campers took dance, made jewerly, shot the air rifles and walked the llama. We will have canteen and general swim after rest hour and then report to their C activity. I will let you know what we are up to this afternoon!

Friday:
Happy Friday to you! Today was A schedule and campers are having a super time here. Ronnie, our chef, prepared carrot salad and mixed vegetable salad, hushpuppies, fried catfish fingers and mashed potates for lunch. He topped it off with chocolate cake squares for everyone. We had table skit afternoon complete with fairies, mexican sisters, super shades and sleeping beauty. Tables 11 and 13 won 1st place, tables 14 and 16 took home 2nd while 3rd place went to tables 10 and 15. After supper and canteen, campers got to dress up their counselor for the Creative Camper Contest. We will post those winners tomorrow. In the mean time, enjoy the pictures.

Thursday:

The girls had a sunny start to their campout and enjoying the counselor cooking hotdogs for them. Some were playing guitars while others playing cards, chatted with each other and bonded with their cabin mates. The "men" played an exciting game of capture the flag on the small ballfield and then jumped into the lake to cool off! The rain is holding off for now and we are keeping our fingers crossed that it stays away. Check back tomorrow for more news and information.
Rain, rain, rain ..go away!
We had a huge rain storm last night which brought in the boys from their campout at around 9pm. We got their clothes and sleepbags dried this afternoon. Campers had sun for their B schedule which included yoga, hiking, horsback and frisbee golf and had a nice cool rest hour. But now, there is rain again! The girls will go to their rain location for camping tonight and the boys will stay at camp!
Hopefully we will get some more of that Carolina sunshine for this evening!

Wednesday:
Everything is "A Okay" here at Chatuga. We had our first full day of regular activities. Campers were leading the llama, go karting, making banana boats and practicing yoga. We had a cabin afternoon where each cabin is brought together to bond over an activity that the counselor has chosen. Some had make up parties, others played tennis, one cabin completed against another cabin in a game of soccer on the big ballfield while others enjoyed the slip in slide and tubing on the lake. Boys are off in the woods camping while the girl played capture the flag and at this minute are enjoyed a twilight swim. Enjoy the pictures from the day.

Tuesday:

We are all here and having a great time at Camp Chatuga. Today campers signed up for all of their activities and completed their swim test. After lunch, we had rest hour, general swim and canteen. Campers were able to pick from Free Choice activities in the afternoon. These included go karts, friendship bracelets, horseback riding and climbing wall. For the evening program, cabins came dressed as a tribe and were introduced in front of the other campers. We had modern day Egyptains, puppy dogs, toga men, sharks and inside out girls. I think that this will be a super session and I will let you know what is going on tomorrow.
Enjoy these pictures and check back with us for more tomorrow!

Campers are having a blast at Camp!
